Row over public use of cantonment assets by civilians

Recently utilization of cantonment well developed infrastructure facilities is  hot news for use by the civilians. It is a common problem which many cantonment areas are facing  so much so the Raksha Mantri (RM) conducted a meeting with all the cantonment boards chairmen & other senior officials. This phenomena becomes extremely serious in the vote bank culture more so before general elections, giving immense  leverage to the political leaders to improve their political standings.

Quintessentially this is a unspoken failure of planning of urbanization and  satellite townships with all necessary infrastructure. by the local political leadership for their lack of vision and implementation. Infrastructure should be total  and inclusive  catering  for  physical comforts & conveniences, health & recreation, transportation & commuting convenience, education & vocational facilities and wealth generation & growth.   Miserable failure of  local political leadership all over the country is evident from the in numerable cases of planning failures, corruption charges and  the consequent court cases.

What is the next best solution to cover their own failures of improper urbanizations & satellite cities? Cantonment which initially grown in the rural areas of cities and townships of well established & well maintained by the defense personnel with their own discipline and within their  resources, with wide roads, open spaces, etc. What best alternative than preying on these facilities even at the cost of demoralization the defense personal and their families. So much for the flip side of our pattern of democracy.  

It is time the honest political leaders to divert their concentration from vote bank politics for proper planning which is  expected of  them. In fact the recent utterances of a central cabinet minister on top brass of the Indian Navy  is a disheartening example. It is our fortunate that Indian  Armed  forces have to protect the nation as against protectors as well as the international supports --of this kind
